Where Will My Square Go?

*Updated January 12, 2002*

When we embarked on this project 4 months ago, none of us dreamed just how big it would become! We had to wonder if we could really make this vision a reality… at times, we had to wonder if we were crazy for even trying! ;^)

Our deadline for submissions was January 5th, 2002, and we are pleased to announce that we've received enough beaded squares to create two quilts. In fact, we've received so many squares that it appears we will surpass the original goal of two quilts ~ we're well on our way to a third quilt for Pennsylvania!

We'd like to thank the beading community for your generous outpouring of support and creativity. Your talent and continuing encouragement have made this project soar! As you look through the "inspiration pages " you'll see the incredible array of work that has been contributed to this effort so far. It reflects the diversity of our community, as well as the strength in our unity. We have succeeded in weaving our varied techniques, colors and emotions into a powerful artwork we can truly be proud of!

We are now moving into the next phase of this project: assembly! We hope to complete this considerable task by late March. We'll keep you updated on our progress along the way, and would like to invite you to join us for a "preview" exhibit at Bead Expo in Santa Fe from March 6-10, 2002. This display will feature whatever portion of the project is completed at that time. The finished quilts will be unveiled at The Bead Museum of Arizona on May 4, 2002, before embarking on a travelling exhibit.

Please keep an eye to the site for further updates on exhibit dates and permanent installations.

Thank you!
